WCAB’s “Grant and Study” procedure
Dear LatinoComp members –
It is a privilege to invite LatinoComp members to join the effort to bring the WCAB’s “Grant and Study” procedure to an end. In response to our Petition for a Writ of Mandate, on May 4, 2022, the Court of Appeal issued an Order to Show Cause directing the WCAB to justify why it was issuing “Grant and Study” dispositions, with a deadline of 6/3/22. https://www.dropbox.com/s/8ecvizcyirqt4ok/20220504%20DCA%20Order%20to%20Show%20Cause%20to%20the%20WCAB.pdf?dl=0 The delays caused by “Grant and Study” dispositions are a system-wide issue. Not only are applicants' cases being delayed, but the insurance company and lien claimants as well. Not surprisingly, Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, Farmers Insurance Exchange, AmTrust North America, and Insurance Company of the West filed an Amicus brief in support of our Writ. We all recognize that this is not just about over 500 cases stalled out at the WCAB, but also the cases that can be stalled out in the future. More pleadings will need to be filed, and we want to be ready to take the actions as necessary. The simple reality is that we can only continue this fight with the financial support of like-minded people like you. Consider supporting this effort with your donation of $500, $1000, or even $2500.
